It will probably come as no surprise to you to learn that we love gems. Obviously diamonds are a girl’s best friend but we’ve also got rather large soft spots for the rich, luxurious hues and bold geometric shapes of emeralds, amethysts, rubys and more. With that in mind, it’s fair to say that we’re head over heels with the stunning gemstone colours that are appearing in weddings at the moment. So, let’s indulge for a few moments and fall in love with jewel-toned, gem-inspired weddings…

If you adore the deep colours of precious stones then using these as the basis for your wedding palette is a great idea. Deep purples, intense reds, vibrant greens all look fabulous, especially for winter weddings. Using bold florals against light bridal gowns or even alongside similarly coloured bridesmaid dresses seems to strengthen the impact of the colours and they’re certainly showstopping.

Jewel tones also work incredibly well with almost any style of wedding. Glamorous occasions look fabulous with pops of colour, maybe with shoes, ties, belts or sashes and more whilst vintage inspired vibrancy is equally effective. We really love the mix-and-match bridesmaids trend right now so why not let your maids select their favourite gem coloured dress to wear?

When it comes to dressing your venue, the world is your oyster when you’re planning a jewel inspired wedding. Deep coloured glassware, golden metallic accents, luxurious fabric accessories and abundant, dramatic floral arrangements are all absolutely perfect for this look.  The contrast of these colours against bare wood tables is just fantastic and who wouldn’t want to linger by candlelight here?

The devil, as they say, is in the detail but we don’t see it quite like that. We delight in details so we couldn’t resist these gorgeous finishing touches. Firstly, we swoon for that stationery and the colours are absolute heaven (also, check out the calligraphy on the envelopes – that’s a masterclass in how to make your guests feel special from the word go!). We also couldn’t say no to a jewel toned cocktail or two and gem coloured glassware is an absolute must for this theme.

If you’d prefer a different look for your gemstone wedding then we suggest you embrace all things geometric. Inspired by the shapes and sharp edges of the stones themselves, this is a look that really rocks! Perfect for a summer wedding or if you’d just like a lighter, brighter look, imagine hanging ‘gems’ that ooze flowers, or jewel tones delicacies on crisp white linens. It’s a great look and totally on-trend.

You can still go to town with details here too. The slices of agate with guest’s names in gold make for a truly brilliant table plan or simply use shaped cards held in place with gems as a seating card display. Also, we couldn’t finish without mentioning this absolutely perfect little favour pouch because love certainly does rock…
