Well hello and welcome to a wedding inspiration feature that’s absolutely full of festive beauty. Winter is a wonderful time for a wedding and where once Christmas nuptials meant an almost obligatory red and gold theme, we can now enjoy elegant colour palettes coupled with those rustic-luxe wedding ideas that we all adore. So, if all you want for Christmas is a beautiful winter wedding, you need look no further…

Oh winter brides, you really do have the most fabulous options for your wedding day ensemble. Faux fur wraps and gorgeous knits are perfect in so many ways – not only are they a delightful nod to the season but they’ll also keep you warm, especially if you can escape outside for frosty photos. With the trend for bridal separates, how about adding a luxurious knit atop a beautiful skirt for a bridal looks with twist? Don’t forget to add a touch of lip colour in a winterberry hue for the perfect finishing touch.

Winter grooms and groomsmen also have some excellent options for their outfits too. Richly coloured ties, checks, layers and all manner of fabrics from tweeds and woolens through to denims and heavy cottons look amazing at this time of year. I love the non-matching suits and the laid-back look of these guys.

For an unforgettable wedding feast, bring lots of seasonal elements to your tables. Centrepieces that include greenery and firs, pine cones and frosted leaves look truly delightful, especially when contrasted with bare wooden tabletops. I absolutely adore these wooden slice place settings and the napkins, tied with string and decorated with another sprig of greenery and a cinnamon stick will smell heavenly. Hanging decorations are also a great option and the little candles suspended from a white wood branch in the bottom right of the image above are simply fabulous.

You can take more rustic influences for other decorations too. How about a backdrop made from wooden and finished with greenery? Pelts and candles to add warmth and little bags of wedding favours decorated with berries and spices are all absolutely in keeping with this look. One of my favourite favours for this time of year has to be homemade snow globes and if you’d like some winter wedding DIY, you’ll find a tutorial here on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings.

Flowers can be hard to get hold of during the winter and prices often rise around Christmas so speak to your florist to discuss your options in good time. Foliage-only weddings are very popular at the moment so you can cut right down on flowers to save money whilst still being bang on trend. Bring lots of seasonal elements into your décor such as pinecones and spices and even sleds and skis! Let your imagination run wild!

Winter is absolutely the right time of year for a fabulous feast so be sure to treat your guests to a warming selection of foods and drinks. How about serving gourmet hot chocolates to guests instead of chilled champagne or why not set up a hot cocoa station to allow guests to warm themselves as soon as they arrive? Don’t forget the marsamallows! Rustic breads served with cheeses and meats make a substantial evening buffet and who could resist a dessert table laden with delicacies? It’s easy to see why winter weddings are so incredibly popular!
