Created by Royal jewellers; Cleave & Company, the three-stone diamond ring has at its centre a presumed Cushion shaped diamond of Botswanian origin, a country in which the young Prince visited ever since a young age.
To add depth of sentimentality to the design, the two stones nestled sympathetically against the centre cushion stone of the trilogy ring is that of his late Mother, Lady Diana’s jewellery collection.
What type of ring is it?
With three prominent diamonds it will be little surprise to learn that this type of design is referred to as a trilogy ring. The simplicity of it enhances the elegance of the diamonds set within. As such it’s a piece that will certainly stand the test of time.
The past, present & future symbolised by a trilogy set ring has been a consumer favourite over the years and with the high profile exposure of a Royal wedding, demand will only increase further.
The ring itself is a mixed metal combination that balances the romantic, warm yellow gold tones against the crisp platinum, giving a contemporary twist on a traditional design.
Continuing the contemporary design features, the ring’s central diamond is held in place rather interestingly by a double claw setting with the side stones set in 5 claws, as opposed to a typical 4 or 6 configuration. This adds symmetry and depth to the trilogy setting in a understated fashion.
How much would it cost?
It is extremely difficult to estimate the size and cost of this ring without knowing all the variables . As with any cushion shaped diamond upwards of 1.5 cts, the length and width of the stone compared to its weight, can be somewhat erratic as the depth of cushion diamonds can vary considerably. However, by using our software and technical knowledge we estimate the weight of the centre stone to be 4.5 ct- 5 ct with two accent 0.75 ct round diamonds. This would give the ring a total carat weight of 6.0 ct -6.5 ct. A ring made with these stones and set in platinum and yellow gold would cost somewhere between £74,313.39 and £93,489.71 depending on the quality of the cut, colour and clarity of the stones used.
